YouTuber reveals Tesla problems with 400,000 km and criticizes the build quality of the model (YouTube @Ratarossa)
Scott Chivers, a car enthusiast and content creator on YouTube, shared his experiences with a Tesla Model S he bought after his previous car broke down.
With over 400,000 km driven, the car’s battery was completely drained, and Tesla UK quoted $18,000 to replace it, which led him to buy a new model.
Although he praised the car’s reliability over the past 12 months, Scott didn’t hold back in criticizing the Tesla’s build quality, mentioning annoying noises like squeaks and creaks, especially in the air conditioning system.
He also complained about the difficulties in fixing these issues, saying the AC system makes a constant noise while driving, which wasn’t the case initially. The issue would be hard to fix, as it would require disassembling the car’s dashboard. Additionally, the suspension and brakes also contributed to worsening the noise, making the experience more uncomfortable. Other defects noticed included door handles that got stuck and the design of the 21-inch turbine wheels, which Scott described as fragile and unsuitable for the roads.
Despite the criticism, some of Scott’s 284,000 followers on social media weren’t surprised by the problems, considering the car’s high mileage. Teslas with high mileage, such as models reaching 675,000 to 1.9 million kilometers, are in demand, and experts say that if well maintained, these cars can easily run over 320,000 km without major issues.
